The Early Childhood Education is a rigorous and relevant two-year program based on state and national standards. It is available for those interested in teaching young children from birth to age 8 (through third grade) in a variety of early care/education and school programs. While in the program students gain an understanding of the principles of early childhood education and learn to facilitate young children’s learning and development through a combination of class work and practical experience in our schools. We aim to prepare reflective, competent, and caring Early Childhood Development and Education professionals to impact a diverse population of young children and families using research-based, developmentally appropriate practices. This program offers four Carnegie units of credit, allows for core academic subjects to be integrated into the curriculum and provides students with the background and experience needed to obtain a CDA.
